Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University

Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University was founded in 2010 by the Yilmaz Yayima Foundation on land belonging to the Sultan Bayezid II Foundation. It is named after Professor Sabahattin Zaim, who was one of the founders of the Yilmaz Yayima Foundation and a leader of the Islamic movement in the 1950s. The university is primarily a foundation university, providing its students with scholarships ranging from 25% to 100% of tuition fees. The university has eight faculties and a graduate school.

University Information

The university includes 365 faculty members in addition to more than 11,116 students from various disciplines, with over 2,270 international students from different nationalities. Arab nationalities such as Syrian, Palestinian, and Somali are prominent, along with countries from Central Africa and Central Asia.

The university has 18 research centers, with the Islamic Studies Center, Islamic Economics Center, and Halal Food Center leading the way.

The university excels in humanities, offering master’s and doctoral degrees in Islamic Sciences and Islamic Economics in the Arabic language.

The university supports the Erasmus grant for student exchange with 138 universities from EU member states, in addition to five Arab countries.

For diligent undergraduate students, the university provides the opportunity to study two university majors simultaneously after achieving a suitable GPA, allowing them to graduate with two academic degrees at the same time.

There are 11 research centers at the university, with centers for humanities and administration studies at the forefront. Additionally, it has 56 technical laboratories for scientific disciplines and a research hospital for human medicine.

The university supports the Erasmus grant for student exchange with 88 academic programs with universities from EU member states.

About housing

The main campus is located in the halkali region, where all undergraduate programs are taught. The university provides student housing in the form of apartments, with annual fees considered low compared to other available accommodations in Istanbul. The annual fees start at $1500, while apartment fees range from $200 to $450 per month.

The campus dedicated to postgraduate studies is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul in the Tenzade area, near the Metrobus station. This location allows students to find accommodation that suits them for ease of movement and commuting to the university. However, the apartment fees in this area are relatively high, starting from $350 per month.

The university is located in the European part of Istanbul in the halkali region, with the main campus as well as a campus dedicated to postgraduate studies situated on the Asian side in the Tenzade area.
